MONTROSE Macmillan Cancer Support fund-raising committee is to stage what they believe is to be a first for Angus, a Food and Drink Fayre to promote Angus Produce.
Event organiser local councillor Mark Salmond said: “As a member of the fund-raising committee I am always looking for new ideas to raise money for Macmillan while also supporting local businesses. I came up with the Food and Drink Fayre idea as a way to promote Angus’s Food and Drink producers, while raising much needed money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Angus and its hinterland have some of the best small and medium quality food and drink producers in Scotland. This event will allow them to showcase their produce in a taste, try and buy public event. We also intend to have cookery demonstrations by Angus chefs using local seasonal produce which can then be sampled by the public”
The event will take place on Sunday, June 17, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in Montrose Town Hall.
Councillor Salmond added: “We have already had great interest from local food producers but there are still spaces available for any interested business. We are looking for local producers of meats, fish, cheese, biscuits, chocolate, bakery, confectionery, ice cream, dairy produce, jams, sauces, fresh fruit, berries, wines, beers, spirits and liqueurs all produced in Angus or the north-east of Scotland.”
