DESPITE the lease of one of the most prestigious hotels in the area being offered for sale on the website of a national agency, the owners insist it is not on offer and they plan to keep it as a going concern.
Panmure Hotel occupies an impressive stone built detached premises overlooking the first tee of the award-winning golf course in Monifieth. The property is also located near to a selection of other golf courses including the Medal, Ashludie, Carnoustie and St Andrews, with the beach and seafront within easy walking distance.
The premises have been recently refurbished, with a new bar installed, and the function rooms and bedrooms all redecorated. Free wi-fi is available throughout.
The current owners, John Clark and Nigel Richards, took over a 30-year lease of the business in September of last year from Oxford Hotels.
Mr Clark told the Guide & Gazette: “We moved in to the property in August, 2009, and have spent the last 20 months building things up.
“For this year we have got 18 weddings booked, goodness knows how many golf parties and over the last three days of January we are stowed out.”
He thinks that the sale announcement came about because of a misunderstanding.
He explained: “When we took over the lease we thought it would be sensible to get a valuation, and it would appear that is where the information for the sale notice came from.
“However, I would like all our customers to know that we are carrying on as normal. I know it is worrying when they read that sort of thing, but we are most emphatically not selling and it is very much business as usual.”
