A MONIFIETH woman has purchased the 300,000th pre-paid funeral plan from funeral planning company Golden Charter.

Mrs Elizabeth Hill was presented with flowers at Selwood Funeral Directors, who her funeral plan is held with. In addition, and at Mrs Hill’s suggestion, Golden Charter the Glasgow-based company which was formed in 1989, also made a donation to her local hospital, Ninewells in Dundee.

After being presented with a gift and flowers at Selwood Funeral Directors Mrs Hill explained why she took out a funeral plan. She said it was to save her family any problems in the future. She went on: “My family are aware I have a plan. I have peace of mind knowing that all my wishes are noted and this will save the family any problems in the future.”

When asked why she chose Selwood Funeral Directors to manage her funeral plan from Golden Charter she commented: “Selwood is a local company with a great reputation.”

Indeed, she has nothing but praise for the caring and professional service offered to her at a very difficult time by Robin Marshall, funeral director at Selwood’s, who dealt with her late husband’s funeral.

Selwood is a family-owned and family-run business. The owner, Lindsay Martin, said: “Selwood is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), the British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD) and the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF).

“Over the years we have out-grown two premises, and in 1986 opened our existing office at 77-79 Dundee Street, Carnoustie.”
