A CAMPAIGN to increase television filming in Scotland has been backed by the MP for Dundee East.
The campaign is being led by Equity, the actors’ union and Stewart Hosie MP has also added his support.
Improvements to employment prospects for technicians working in television in Scotland have not been matched by working opportunities for actors living and working in Scotland.
Mr Hosie said: “I am keen to support Equity’s call for more TV production in Scotland using the talented actors that live in Scotland.
“I agree with Equity that in the 21st century there is no reason for television production to be so centred in London. Scottish voices are few and far between despite our phenomenal record in producing world class actors.
“The industry in Scotland needs our support to prevent the drain of talent, skills, business and business activity out of the country.
“More Scotland-based production would help to create and sustain employment and prevent actors from Scotland having to base themselves in London to find work.”
