New faces at the Chamber

THE ANNUAL general meeting of the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday.

Over 130 members gathered at the Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort to discuss business and confirm a new president and director.

Chris Lundie, who retired as president and board member, reported that the Chamber had more financial and operational success in 2011 despite facing some tough economic challenges.

Longest serving board member and businessman Jim Pickett was confirmed as the new president and Andy Ross, site director at GlaxoSmithKline in Montrose, was elected as the Chamber’s newest director. Mr Lundie, said: “The Chamber continues to grow and its membership spans all sectors and sizes of businesses from every part of Dundee and Angus. I am honoured that the members gave me the opportunity to serve as their president. I would like to personally thank all of the current and past directors and staff for the support they gave me, and for all of their efforts to make the Chamber the success story that it is.”

Jim Pickett added: “I would like to express all the members’ gratitude to Chris for his outstanding service on behalf of the Chamber. I am delighted to welcome Andy Ross on to the Board of Directors. Angus is important to the Chamber and Andy’s insights will make sure that we continue to provide services and address issues that are important to businesses in the county. Angus has a lot to be proud about and I will make sure that we never cease to tell that to anyone who will listen.”
