AN ARBROATH-based jam maker has been given an economic boost after signing a deal with a supermarket giant to provide their products in another 700 stores on a UK wide basis.

Mackays has won a deal with Tesco to supply the retail chain with Mackays Scottish blackcurrant, strawberry, raspberry jams and three berry preserves for a much wider range of stores.

The deal, which will begin on September 10, has been described as a sizeable piece of business and will probably double the value of Mackays sales to Tesco on a cash basis.
