New store means more jobs

A major national food retailer has announced its intention to open a brand new store in Monifieth and create about 20 new jobs.

Co-operative Food will open their new convenience store on Mortimer Drive at the Milton Mill development.

The new store is expected to be around 2,000 square feet and is due to be completed at the end of October creating approximately 20 new jobs.

Co-operative Food’s regional acquisitions manager Ian Mason said: “The Co-operative is proud of its record of operating at the heart of many communities.

“The investment will bring a bright, modern store with an extensive fresh produce range and excellent customer service.

“It will ensure a pleasant shopping experience, and people will be able to enjoy picking up delicious food conveniently.

“We look forward to welcoming new customers, meeting the community’s daily food shopping needs and, in the best traditions of The Co-operative, make our contribution to local life.”

The Co-operative is a member-owned entity with an emphasis on community links, including The Co-operative Membership Community Fund which is used to support community causes.
