BUDDING entrepreneurs could be set to win up to £7,500 as a cash injection into their new business thanks to Angus College.
The Angus Centre For Enterprise, based at Angus College in Arbroath, is set to launch the THINK BIG business ideas competition, with a prize of £7500 going to the winning entrepreneur.
The competition, sponsored by Angus Council, Arbroath-based leading jam manufacturers MacKays, Arbroath web design firm Hitreach, the Federation of Small Businesses, and Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, represents a terrific opportunity for anyone resident in Angus, who hopes to launch a new business.
The prize fund consists of £5000 in cash, plus a £2500 website professionally designed by Hitreach to maximise the winning company’s e-trading platform
The event kicks off on Thursday, April 19 in the Angus Centre For Enterprise, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., when competitors will be given their briefing packs and a briefing from business specialists.
The event judges will also reveal just what they will be looking for among the submitted entries to ensure that one business goes away with total prize money of £7500, a real godsend when small business start-up funding is so hard to get hold of.
A ‘submitted entry’ is a completed application form sent in to the Centre by the June 1 deadline, and the most promising submissions will feature in a list of finalists who will be asked to pitch their idea to the judges.
The judging panel may also decide to split the prize if they consider more than one entry outstanding enough to merit financial recognition.
The winning business or businesses will also receive a free full-page advert in the Dundee and Angus Chamber’s authoritative magazine.
To take part, you only need to live in Angus, have a good business idea, and turn up on the day – but as lunch is part of the event, a call in advance to the Centre’s Pauline McDonald on 01241-432722 is essential, to establish numbers for catering.
