A long-standing Carnoustie retailer has moved on to pastures new and his two stores have been taken on by a Dundee-based company.

On Friday it was announced that Colin Landsburgh, proprietor of the SPAR stores on Carnoustie High Street and Barry Road, along with their attendant Post Office outlets had sold his business to C.J. Lang & Son Ltd., the SPAR Scotland food and drink wholesaler and retailer.

Scott Malcolm, managing director of C.J. Lang, said: “The Carnoustie stores will be an excellent addition to our company owned store portfolio and we are delighted that SPAR’s long standing presence in the town, serving the local community, is being preserved with this acquisition.

“Over many years, Colin and his father have built a successful business and we look forward to developing it further. We wish to thank Colin and his family for being such great ambassadors for SPAR and wish them all the best for the future.”

Colin plans to take a holiday before looking at future options. He said: “C.J. Lang is a great fit for our stores and our staff. They understand our business, but also listen to local ideas. We’d like to thank everyone for all their support over the years, and for their kind words on hearing of our move.”
