Views wanted on Monifieth upgrade

Interested parties will have an opportunity next month to view an ambitious new development proposed for the outskirts of Monifieth.

On Friday, September 27, from 2 to 8 p.m. in David Lloyd’s Sports Centre developer Taylor Wimpey will host a public exhibition of its 20-year plan for land at The Grange, adjacent to the A92 by the Ethiebeaton roundabout.

Taylor Wimpey intends to address the recommendations made by the TAYplan strategic review which indicates a need for new housing in South Angus, a park and ride east of Dundee and a replacement recycling centre for the existing Monifieth facility.

To this end their proposal includes around 380 new private and affordable family homes, and includes consideration of the park and ride and recycling facilities.

Andrew Roberts, strategic land manager for Taylor Wimpey, said: “Public exhibitions are an excellent way for Taylor Wimpey to engage at an early stage with the community in which it intends to deliver new developments.

“We take this part of the process very seriously and would encourage as many members of the public as possible to view our proposals.

“The Grange site is a logical extension to Monifieth. Our proposals include a mix of private new homes as well as affordable housing where there is currently a significant shortfall.

“In addition, we are looking to provide land for a park and ride, as well as a new recycling facility which could replace the town’s existing but constrained facility.”

Members of the public are invited to come to the exhibition and share their views before the proposal is submitted.
