THIS year The Boys’ Brigade nationally is celebrating the 125th anniversary of the 1st Glasgow’s first ever BB Camp at Tighnabruich.

Camps today take many different forms but recent research shows that residential events are one of the most popular activities for Boys’ Brigade members. Indeed, many people still talk of camps being the highlight of their BB year.

The Brigade executive is keen to encourage all companies to give their young people the opportunity to attend at least one residential event during this session and the The Boys’ Brigade is marking the anniversary with the production of a special badge that can be awarded to boys who attend a residential event during the year.

The 1st Carnoustie Company have ensured that its boys have had the opportunity to achieve this badge. Earlier in June the Company Section took its boys to Scott Lodge for the weekend.

During the October school holidays, the boys had a further opportunity and this time it was an overnight camp under canvas. The boys and officers walked from their hall in Maule Street to Easthaven where they set up camp for the night.

Late night sausages were cooked and all the boys had fun round a campfire.

Further opportunities will be made available throughout the year for the boys who could not make it along to obtain the 125th anniversary camping badge.
