THE CARNOUSTIE anti-dog fouling campaign is trying to encourage sociable dog walking with an afternoon event this weekend.

Carnoustie Canine Capers have organised a Social Doggy Walk for Sunday (June 19) meeting at 1.30 p.m. at the Black Slab car park.

The walk will be led by Steph Smith, and refreshments will be laid on at the Scout Hall, Links Avenue, afterwards by Jean Brown and her helpers.

The group is keen to welcome all to the event, with or without canine companions. Names and contact details should be left at Mel’s Pet Shop, 63 High Street, call 01241 854049 or e-mail carnosutiecaninecapers@gmail.com.

Since the Wallace Veterinary Centre donated 10,000 dog poo bags to the cause, nearly 60 local businesses have become involved in their distribution, prompting them to buy a further 10,000 bags.

A recent coffee morning raised £160 for the cause, and coupled with a donation from Carnoustie Community Council for £200 will go towards the cost of restocking their supply of dog poo bags.
