Carnoustie Gala Committee have released the programme of events surrounding the town’s Gala Day on July 4.
Already under way is the ‘Can-U-Spot-It’ contest which kicked off on Tuesday, June 16. Entry forms remain available from The Premier Shop, Barry Road, and newsagents MacDougall’s and McLagan’s, both on the High Street.
Events from domino competitions to sand castle building, a quiz night and much more have also been arranged. The Gala Day parade itself will commence at 1 pm sharp from the Panmure Industrial Estate on Saturday, July 4.
Carnoustie Gala day was revived by the Community Council in 1987 and the Gala Committee formed in 1989.
From a modest beginning, Gala Week is now a huge undertaking, organised by a small band of dedicated volunteers – the Gala Committee, arguably one of the hardest working organisations in the town of Carnoustie.
Numerous fund-raising activities throughout the year allow the committee to make donations to various clubs, organisations, good causes and more. The scope of fund-raising activities ranges from quiz nights, sunflower competitions, putting, darts, dominoes, folk nights, the Gala Day parade and more.
