Carnoustie baker Mark Robb is celebrating after his bakery won a coveted prize for their sausage rolls.
Mark, who runs the J.M. Bakery on High Street, was delighted to find they had won a gold medal in the Scotch Pie Club World Championships for his sausage rolls.
He said: “I’m very pleased. We have won something every year for the last three years. We’ve had two bronze medals and now this gold.
“We’ve been quite fortunate in the last few years and to get our first win is great.”
Mark explained the secret to the winning pastries: He said: “We use local ingredients. We use sausage meat made by local butchers in Angus and our own puff pastry and all our sausage rolls are hand made and it’s basically just about keeping the quality I feel.”
Savoury pastries of all description were sampled by judges in Dunfermline before Christmas.
The J.M. Bakery was one of only two gold winners in the sausage roll category with the other going to Alex Mitchell Butchers of Glenrothes while the overall winner was named as MacDonald Brothers of Pitlochry.
Meanwhile in Arbroath butcher D.H. Robertson was awarded a bronze for their beef bourguignon pies.
