Catriona officially opens golf centre

THE CARNOUSTIE Golf Centre was officially opened on Thursday morning by top female golfer Catriona Matthew.

The former Women’s British Open champion cut the ribbon on the multi-million pound facility, which has been completed under budget.

The centre boasts a pro shop, both male and female changing rooms and a roof top terrace which gives a panoramic view of Carnoustie Links.

Catriona, who is also the Carnoustie Country ambassador played at Carnoustie last year during the Ricoh Women’s Open and was able to use some of the facilities in the new centre.

At the ceremony she said: “It is a great honour to be opening the centre.

“Being here brings back some great memories from the Ricoh last year.

“This facility is a fantastic to have and it is a great honour for me to be able to declare this golf centre open.”
