CARNOUSTIE’S first locally-orientated charity shop opened on Saturday.

The ‘For Carnoustie’ shop aims to redistribute proceeds among local causes from the sale of donated goods to the shop at 89 High Street.

The day-to-day running of the shop will be carried out by Dave and Babs Hodgson. Babs said: “It has been a wild and fantastic day. Including the raffle we’ve taken over £1,000 which is all down to the generosity of the people in the town. We couldn’t have done it without them, and the help of our volunteers who have worked tirelessly from dawn till dusk.”

Dave added: “I think the support we have had from virtually the entire population of Carnoustie has been incredible. We just want to thank everybody who has helped us.”
