ACTION on Hearing Loss Scotland is urging people in Arbroath to include people who are deaf or hard of hearing at social or family events over Christmas.

The charity wants people to ensure that everyone can fully enjoy this year’s celebrations.

They say this can be done by asking everyone to take time to include family or friends with hearing loss, making sure that they are facing people directly when talking to them and speaking clearly.

They are also asking those with hearing loss to make it clear if they cannot hear what is being said and to ask people to repeat themselves.

Delia Henry, director of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, said: “We are asking people in Arbroath to take time to converse clearly with relatives and friends with hearing loss to make sure that everyone is able to take a full part in this year’s Christmas celebrations.

“Often, it is noisy social events that make people with hearing loss feel the most left out, as it can be very difficult to follow conversations. Anyone who wants further information on hearing loss or on products that can be used to help communication with others can get in touch with us on 0141 341 5330 or scotland@hearingloss.org.uk.”
