Tomorrow (Saturday) children will have the opportunity to recreate part of Christmas 1914 at the Signal Tower Museum, Arbroath.

The ‘Make A Princess Mary Gift Tin’ craft activity starts at 1 p.m. and looks at the brass tins that Princess Mary sent as Christmas gifts to the soldiers in the trenches. They were filled with tobacco, sweets, spices and a Christmas card. It was Christmas 1914 that troops on both sides enacted a brief and spontaneous truce.

Children can visit the museum to make their own gift tins and find out more about them. The event is free but booking is essential. Contact at signal.tower@angus.gov.uk or on 01241 435329.
