Time is running out for nominations for the election of a councillor to the Carnoustie and District area of Angus (Ward 5).

Completed nomination forms must be delivered to the returning officer at the Election Office, Print Unit, Sylvie Way, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AY, by no later than 4pm today (Tuesday).

If more than one valid nomination is received, a by-election will be held and voting take place between 7am and 10pm on Monday, December 5.

The election of a councillor to the area follows the death of Provost Helen Oswald, who was a councillor for the area, last month.

They can also be obtained from the Election Office, phone 01307 476060, which is open for the issue and receipt of nomination papers on weekdays, from 10am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays).
