A MONIFIETH man made a bold move recently to raise money for a cancer charity.
Last Friday, Ken le Grice (52) had his head shaved at Ali Bell’s Barber to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Ken has managed to raise over £2,300 so far and was encouraged to raise the money after his family was struck by the illness.
Ken’s sister-in-law, Petra le Grice, tragically lost her battle with an inoperable brain tumour just before Christmas, and his wife’s sister, Shona Mack, has also been diagnosed with cancer, as have an aunt and uncle and numerous work colleagues.
Ken said of his head shave: “I’m 52 and I’m not going to be able to run a marathon. It’s nothing compared to what other people are suffering.
“I think because I picked the middle of winter this possibly had a lot of effect on support. It just shows you the support that’s there.”
Asked if he was feeling the cold Ken replied: “It’s not too bad. I’m coping alright with that so far!”
