It’s a case of ‘in with the new and out with the old’ for the 103rd season of Carnoustie Musical Society as they present a double first.

Continuing their long tradition of producing Scottish premieres this year they offer ‘The Reunion’ by Ian Cook and Ian Newton, which won the 2013 NODA President’s Cup and has been critically acclaimed in musical theatre circles for its comedy and pathos.

A spokesperson for CMS said: “We are really excited to be bringing ‘The Reunion’ to Carnoustie. It’s a totally hilarious, laugh-out-loud show with some fantastic new tunes and a strong plot that drives the whole thing along.

“We are having a ball in rehearsals and we are sure this will come across on stage during the run this March.”

‘The Reunion’ tells the story of a group of friends as they prepare to leave school, the challenges and problems they face and then the drama that occurs when they reunite years later at a funeral.

CMS are also keen to take themselves firmly into the 21st century and for the first time bring their booking practises up to date. The spokesperson explained: “When we were given this wonderful opportunity to present a brand new play and a Scottish premiere to boot we felt it was the perfect time to try to encourage a new generation of audience. We’ve made it easier for young people to get involved and moved our booking system online so that folk can buy tickets when it is convenient for them. In this day and age making the best use of social media and the Internet is vital to reach as wide an audience as possible, and we are hoping to attract new fans from further afield.”

Tickets are available now at priced £9 and £8 concession, or call the TicketSource box office on 0333 666 3366, please note a booking fee is applicable online and further charges apply when calling the box office.
