Nominations for community council elections has been extended for one week in eight areas - because not enough nominations have been received to allow a council to be formed.
The time frame in which residents can submit nominations to serve on their local community councils has been extended by the Returning Officer by one week, until Monday, October 5.
Due to the lack of nominations for certain areas, there is insufficient numbers to fill vacancies the community councils could fold.
Regulations dictate that the community councils of Inverarity, Kirriemuir, Monifieth, Montrose, Murroes and Wellbank, Royal Burgh of Arbroath and District, Royal Burgh of Forfar and Tealing cannot continue if half of the community councillor vacancies are unfilled.
If you want to help your local community and have a voice in local decisions that affect local people – get involved.
Candidates in these eight areas now have until 4pm on Monday October 5 to put forward nominations.
