Angus Council’s communities team in Monifieth has been successful in securing a grant for £280 from the Angus Community Safety Partnership, Give It A Go monies.

The grant will purchase protective clothing and lighting for young people who are part of the Garden and Environmental group based in the Community Wing in Monifieth High School.

The group meet in the community wing on Wednesday after school and the purpose of the group is to develop and maintain the community garden. During winter the group tidy the garden and greenhouse and prepare the ground for next year’s produce.

The group are currently working towards clearing out the overgrown pond and intend to reshape it and put in a liner. Some of the participants are part of the group through their involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and are doing their Volunteering section as part of the Garden group. Members will also have an option to go through a John Muir Award as part of the group.

Youngsters interested can pop in to the Community Wing. Adults interested in volunteering can contact the youth worker on 01382 536288.
