A bogus workman who entered an 86-year-old woman’s home stole a three-figure sum of money and a purse.
The theft took place in in Dawson Crescent, Monifieth, after the man called at the victim’s home around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18.
He asked for payment for gardening work which hadn’t being carried out. He then entered her home and encouraged the woman to part with her bank card, which she refused to do. She left the room and on returning the man was gone.
It was then discovered that her purse was missing.
The suspect is described as being five feet six inches tall.
A police spokesperson said: “This is a despicable crime targeting an elderly person in their own home and we would urge anyone with any information that may be useful to contact Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
