Investigations are continuing into the mugging of an 82-year-old veteran in Carnoustie earlier this month.

Police Scotland are keen to trace a man and woman who came to the aid of the elderly man who reported a robbery in Barry Road, Carnoustie.

The man was standing at the bus stop at about 9 p.m. on Friday, November 9, when he was assaulted by two men in their 20s wearing dark clothing. He suffered a grazed cheek as a result of the incident.

Detective Inspector Frank McManus said: “Following our appeal for the driver of a white van to come forward, he has now been traced and spoken to.

“Further enquiries have revealed it appears that the victim was assisted by the man and the woman.

“We would ask that the couple get in touch with us.”

Officers are making enquiries into the full circumstances and anyone who has information that could assist police with their enquiries should contact Police Scotland on 101.
