Flood prevention scheme maintenance

MAINTENANCE work on the Barry Burn flood prevention scheme in Carnoustie will be carried out next week.

Angus Council’s appointed contractors, Delson Contracts Ltd., will start on site on Monday (February 27).

Work is being done to reinforce the base of the banks of the burn between MacDonald Smith Drive and the footbridge. Subject to weather conditions the work should be completed within five weeks.

While no significant disruption to traffic is expected the council asks for residents and motorists to be patient and to co-operate while the work is under way.

Planning applications

THE FOLLOWING applications for planning permission have been received by Angus Council department of infrastructure services.

Erection of a dwellinghouse at land at 1 Taymouth Street, Carnoustie, by Mr and Mrs Soutar.

Erection of dwellinghouse and double garage in garden ground at 1 South Kinloch Street, Carnoustie, by Mr and Mrs David and Gwen Hunter, re-application.

Police appeal after heating oil theft

TAYSIDE police are anxious to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the theft of 300 litres of heating oil from a farm in Monikie.

The incident occurred between 8 p.m. last Wednesday, February 15, and 7.15 a.m. on Sunday.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious should call Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222.

Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
