A CARNOUSTIE man was left angered after miscreants detonated a smoke bomb outside his home at the weekend.
Ian Archibald’s quiet Saturday night in front of the television was rudely interrupted by a dangerous prank.
Ian described to the Guide & Gazette what happened after he heard a knock on the door of his Brown Street flat at around 9 p.m.
He said: “I went to have a look, saw nothing and went back to watch the rest of the football.
“About 10 to 15 minutes later there was another knock at the door, this time it was my neighbour asking if we were burning anything because the closie was filled with smoke.
Ian continued: “We all checked various cupboards and the electric box that powers the closie lights but saw nothing untoward so we contacted the emergency services and the Fire Brigade came out.”
The Fire Brigade were able to uncover the culprit. Ian explained: “They used a heat seeking machine and found a firework that hadn’t gone off.”
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said: “‘Tayside Police attended along with other emergency services at Brown Street, Carnoustie at 9.25 p.m. following reports of a smoke pellet in a close.
“On attending, it was established there was no fire and no one injured. Officers are carrying out enquiries into the matter.”
