Police probe cash theft

Police are investigating the theft of a two figure sum of money and a handbag from the home of an 85-year old woman in Broughty Ferry.

The incident is being described as ‘despicable’ which saw the woman targetted in her own home.

A woman called at the victim’s home in Maule Street at around 7.15 p.m. on Saturday (July 6).

She then entered the victim’s home and spoke with her.

The victim left the room and upon doing so, briefly saw a man in another part of her house.

On returning to the room the woman was gone, along with the man.

It was then discovered her handbag and contents were missing.

The suspect is described as being aged 30 to 40 years of age, of slim build, wearing a striped jumper and jeans.

The man is described as being six foot tall.

Police say it is a despicable crime targeting an elderly person in their own home and add they would urge anyone with any information that may be useful to contact Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer.
