Police warning

BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) is warning motorists who habitually misuse the railway level crossing at Broughty Ferry that its operation to record and detect offenders will continue.

Since the operation began in mid-February of this year, 46 offences have been recorded and 31 people will be reported to the local Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Angela McGregor of BTP, said: “These figures are chilling. Our camera enforcement van and officers have been deployed in the area in response to a number of incidents when drivers drove over the level crossing when the barriers were in the process of being lowered.”
