An Angus couple have been left traumatised after enduring an unprovoked attack on

their vehicle while in

Carnoustie couple Donna Smith and Gareth Mcmillan were collecting an online purchase when the assault took place in Arbroath’s Howard Street.

At around 8.15pm on Monday, September 28, the couple’s silver Vauxhall Astra was boxed in by a black three-door Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the Golf then exited the vehicle and began to shout abuse at the couple and struck their car repeatedly with a dog chain. The couple were left shaken by the woman’s aggressive behaviour and between £500-600 of damage was caused in the attack they believe was unprovoked.

Donna Smith explained: “The top of Howard Street is a dead end, we did a U-turn and came back looking for an address. She blocked us in and that’s when all this happened. Afterwards she just got back in her car and came up past us. We went away and she followed us for a while until we came by the police station and then she raced off making a lot of noise.”

In the passenger seat of the Golf was a girl, aged around 11 or 12 with long dark hair and dark-rimmed glasses.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland is carrying out enquiries after a disturbance at Howard Street, Arbroath at 8pm on September 28. Officers are keen to trace a woman in her 20’s or early 30’s with red hair in a ponytail, slim build and five feet five inches tall. She was wearing a dark hooded top and jeans.”

Any information should be passed to Police on 101.
