The early morning commuter train from Aberdeen was delayed on Wednesday after a hot-headed pensioner was asked to leave the train.

The 80-year-old traveller was removed from the 6.33 a.m. train at Arbroath following a ticket irregularity dispute.

The train staff contacted the British Transport Police and asked for the woman to be removed from the train and she disembarked at Arbroath Station.

A ScotRail spokesperson said: “Due to a disruptive passenger on board a train at Arbroath at about 7.30 a.m., services through this station were disrupted for a time this morning.”

Services returned to normal by 9 a.m.
