Unprovoked assault on teenage brothers

AN UNPROVOKED assault on two teenage boys on the outskirts of Monifieth on Saturday night is being investigated by police.

The brothers were walking with friends on the footpath adjacent to the westbound carriageway of the A92 opposite McDonalds at Ethiebeaton Park at about 8 p.m. when a white coloured car with completely black wheels, possibly a Corsa or an Astra, pulled up in the gravel car park to the west of McDonalds.

The driver got out, ran across the dual carriageway and assaulted both boys.

The driver of a silver Audi, a man described as being aged in his forties, stopped on the A92 and shouted at the man to stop, at which point he ran off back across the A92 into his car which was last seen heading towards the Grange Road roundabout.

The man responsible is described as being around 19 years old, 5ft 7 in height, of slim build with brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a check shirt and a three-quarter length green jacket.

One of the boys sustained cuts to the back of his head and the other has considerable facial bruising as a result of the assaults.

Officers are keen to trace the driver of the Audi who disturbed the assault and anyone else who may have witnessed it.

Anyone who has information that might assist officers with their enquiries should get in touch with Police Scotland Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer. Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
