Witnesses sought in Broughty assault

Police are seeking witnesses to an assault in Broughty Ferry which resulted in the hospitalisation of a man.

The assault of the 31-year-old man took place at around 11.55 p.m. on Tuesday on the town’s Monifieth Road.

The man was walking near to the junction with Taymouth Place when another man approached him and was seen to strike him on the head and face with what looked like a wooden post or pole.

The man responsible is described as being between 20 and 29 years old, with short fair hair and he was wearing a hooded top. He made off eastwards towards the Invermark Hotel.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland, Tayside Division, said: “We are currently following positive lines of inquiry.”

A passing witness called an ambulance and the injured man was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he was found to have sustained extensive facial injuries including several fractures. He has been kept in hospital for observation.
