Death of Mrs Betsy Bell

ONE of Carnoustie’s oldest residents has died aged 103.

Betsy Bell lived at the Willowbank Care Home in the town after moving to Carnoustie with her husband Jim in 1973.

Mrs Bell was born in Glasgow in July 1908 and worked as a secretary in the city before marrying her husband in 1939.

The couple retired to Carnoustie in 1973 and were married for 64 years before Mr Bell died in 2003.

She was a very keen bowler and was made an honorary member of Carnoustie Bowling Club, where she spent much of her time.

Mrs Bell is survived by her son Ian and daughter Elizabeth. She also had four grandchildren John, Colin, Stewart and Grace as well as five great-grandchildren.
