MEMBERS of the 64th Dundee Brownies and Rainbows who had raised £1,225 for the Paediatric Diabetes Education Fund, presented a cheque to Val Ramsay of the charity in St James’ Church hall, Fort Street, Broughty Ferry, on Friday evening.
The girls, from the Brownies and Rainbows, had raised the money by running a coffee morning in the church hall. It was held as near to Thinking Day as could be arranged, as Thinking Day is for thinking about others.
A diabetes nurse spoke to the girls about the affect of the disease as did a former Brownie, Justine McCluskey, who suffers from diabetes. She is currently working towards her Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The money was raised in memory of one of their number, Kelsey Ross, who sadly died from the effects of diabetes. He sister, Elyese, was one of those who handed over the cheque.
