A road raging driver who hit speeds of 115mph on the A92 was today (Wednesday) given a £400 fine and six point penalty.
Marc Sivewright raced through 50, 60 and 70mph zones at an average speed of 115mph on the A92 on the outskirts of Dundee.
Sivewright lost his temper after another motorist cut him up at a roundabout and reacted by speeding off his powerful BMW X6.
Fiscal depute Trina Sinclair told Dundee Sheriff Court the incident happened on March 19 at around 5.45pm.
She said: “Police officers were patrolling the Dundee to Arbroath road in an unmarked car.
“They saw the accused approach in his vehicle and did a speed check then followed him for a short distance.
“They followed him for 1.43 miles and over that distance he drove at an average of 115mph.”
Sivewright, 43, of The Walled Garden, Carlogie, Carnoustie, pleaded guilty on summary complaint to a charge of driving at 115mph on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath road between Ethiebeaton and Carlogie on March 19.
Defence solicitor Gary McIlravey said: “There is no excuse.
“His position is that this offence happened between two roundabouts.
“When he was coming up to the second roundabout he was cut off by another driver and took umbrage at this.
“He reacted by speeding off which he knows he shouldn’t have done.
“By the time he was pulled over by police he was already down to the correct speed and explained what had happened to them.”
Sivewright was handed a £400 ban and had six penalty points imposed on his licence.
