Edible plants garden

AT A meeting of the Broughty Ferry in Bloom group in the Public Library last Tuesday, members discussed an ‘edible garden’ project proposed for the library grounds. Vice-chair Mary Saunders reported that she had received seeds for the edible plants from the Royal Horticultural Society. It was suggested that the herbs get potted on and kept in the polytunnel.

Peter Sandwell, Dundee City Council representative, volunteered to design a plan for the edible garden and chairman Stan Nutt will prepare the ground.

It was suggested growing a pyramid of French beans and it was stated that bamboo sticks are required for this.

The group’s photography competition was judged on Friday, April 5, and congratulations were extended to the following winners.

Nursery school category – Rachel Gall, from Balgillo Nursery Too; secondary school category – Katie Lewis; adult category – Mary Saunders. The winners are to be invited to the next meeting to receive their prizes.

The next meeting will take place in Broughty Ferry Library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.
