PRIMARY five pupils in the Monifieth cluster have turned into bookworms to find their favourite author.

They have been taking part in the innovative Which Writer Wins? reading initiative this term.

Over the last six weeks, pupils at Seaview, Grange, Auchterhouse, Birkhill, Liff, Mattocks and Murroes schools have been busy reading books by Geraldine McCaughrean, Jenny Nimmo and Kaye Umansky before voting for their favourite author.

This annual programme is an exciting way to encourage children’s reading for enjoyment.

Seaview Primary School hosted a special presentation ceremony on Friday morning when pupils from all schools came together for the announcement of this year’s favourite author.

The result was revealed by Hazel Cook, Monifieth librarian, with Jenny Nimmo taking first place. Hazel also presented prizes to the pupils for the best book reviews.
