Primary four pupils at Burnside Primary School, Carnoustie, recently enjoyed a trip to Rosemount Farm.
It is part of the Co-operative group of working farms that actively encourage children’s learning through work in the environment. As part of the class’s topic on farming and harvest this term, the children thoroughly enjoyed a day at the farm.
They had a guided walk looking at the different crops and the varied machinery used.
Then, after a packed lunch, the children made their own pizzas with healthy ingredients using flour made from the wheat and oil made form the oil seed rape. A quiz about what they had learned during the day was followed by a feast of fresh strawberries which they had seen growing in the polytunnels.
