Angus Council Sports Development Team hosted the first in the series of Fun in Athletics festival at David Lloyds, Monifieth, in partnership with Angus Active Schools on Friday.
Festivals will take place in Montrose, Forfar, Carnoustie, Arbroath and Brechin over the next two weeks.
Fun in Athletics is designed to give children an introduction to athletics through lots of fun track and field events in a team-based environment and the Angus festivals see teams of up to 15 boys and 15 girls in P6/7 from primary schools across the county take part in relay races, javelin, speed bounce, standing long-jump, standing triple-jump and vertical jump events.
Taking part were pupils from Birkhill, Grange, Liff, Mattocks, Murroes and Seaview. In a very competitive festival, the scores were close at times, but Grange were the top team and will be joined by the winning school from the remaining festivals from across Angus at Lochside Leisure Centre, Forfar, in December to contest the Fun in Athletics - Angus Final 2014.
Sports students from Dundee & Angus College have been trained to help run the athletics festivals across the county and were supported by Sports Leaders from Monifieth High School.
Lynda Sim of Arbroath and District Athletics Club lent her excellent knowledge to ensure the festival ran smoothly.
