award presented: Grove Academy pupils were recognised at an awards ceremony in Edinburgh last week for their efforts in social enterprise.

Last Tuesday, pupils Lucy McArthur, Hannah Wright and Stewart Duncan, and teachers Mrs Holligan and Mrs Berry were guests of the Social Enterprise Academy at The Hub in Edinburgh.

The school received its award for the business partnership with their link school in Meru, Kenya, which supplies them with jewellery made by pupils from recycled paper.

The Grove pupils package, market and sell the finished products and the proceeds are then used to fund the education of street children in Meru.

John Swinney, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance addressed the representatives of nearly 30 schools from across the country before presenting them with certificates.
