A FORMER Carlogie Primary School pupil has established a successful website which sells Arab language materials to learners who live outside the Middle East.
Jinanne Tabra set up Araboh.com after struggling to find suitable educational resources for Arabic speakers.
She said: “I went to Carlogie Primary School and at weekends learned Arabic at a school run by the local Arabic community. I found it daunting to learn the Arabic language and wanted to push the boundaries of my knowledge and ability to learn.
“This got me thinking from an early age about where I could go to be truly inspired.”
Araboh.com has 13 members of staff and visits schools in Dubai and Qatar as well as hosting Arab language festivals.
The website has 1,500 books available and they have all been read by Jinanne or a member of her family to make sure they are fun, educational and non-political.
She has also been named one of the top 30 under-30 Arab business leaders by a Middle East business magazine.
Jinanne added: “Later in life I began studying for a degree at Qatar Foundation, which helped me unlock my potential and gain the skills and knowledge necessary to launch Araboh.com. We now sell books in 25 countries.”
The next stop for Jinanne is Harvard University in the United States where she will be studying for a masters degree in international education policy.
