Woodlands Primary School says goodbye to Mrs Jeans

The headteacher at Woodlands Primary School Shirley Jeans is retiring and her presentation was made on Thursday. She was born in Dundee and started teaching in 1972 at Invertay. A year later, she went to Ladyloan for a few years. In 1982 she married John. Then followed maternity leave and stopped teaching for six years. She became a supply teacher in 1987-88 then taught for a year at Panbride, Barry, Newbigging and Monikie. After all of that, she ended up in Carmyllie where she stayed for 13 years. Next stop in 2002 was head teacher at Panbride. Last but not least her final post at Woodlands in 2007. Mrs Jeans was presented with flowers and two memory books made up by the children.

A SPECIAL assembly was held at Woodlands Primary School in Carnoustie on Thursday to say goodbye to their headteacher.

Shirley Jeans is retiring after almost 40 years in teaching and flowers and memory books were presented to her by the children at the assembly.

Mrs Jeans was born in Dundee and started her career in 1972 at Invertay Primary in Monifieth before moving to Ladyloan Primary in Arbroath.

In 1982 she married her husband, John, and after having a family she returned to teaching and spent time at Panbride, Newbigging and Monikie.

Next she taught at Carmyllie Primary for 13 years and then Barry before taking up the post at Woodlands.

Suzanne Smith from Ladyloan Primary will replace Mrs Jeans.
