A CARNOUSTIE beauty is still in the running towards becoming the new face of a major fashion chain after making it through to the next round of a nationwide search.

Performing arts student Eilidh Forbes has been named in the top 250 models who are vying for an advertising campaign with High Street store Next.

Around 20,000 budding models applied for the process, with the winner also receiving an introduction to leading model agency Storm who represent the likes of Kate Moss and Lily Cole.

Eilidh (18) will travel to London next month where she will be put through her paces with special photo-shoots and catwalk coaching.

And the former Carnoustie High pupil can’t wait for the trip.

She said: “I am nervous but really excited about it.

“I love the whole experience of modelling as you get to meet some amazing people and just be creative.

“I never really thought I would make it this far in the competition.”

Eilidh has already tried her hand at modelling and is the current face of online retailer Think Boutique as well as landing a cover of Edinburgh’s Pulse magazine.

She added: “I suppose I love modelling so much because I used to be quite self conscious about my height as I am five foot nine.

“But modelling makes me proud to be tall, especially when I see some of the other girls who are a lot taller than me!”

Eilidh currently studies performing arts in Edinburgh at the MGA Academy and hopes to pursue a career in that field.
