Broughty beach gets blue flag

Broughty Ferry beach has been awarded the blue flag 2012. It was unveiled on Wednesday on a not very summery day by, from left - Councillor Derek Scott, Councillor Vari McDonald and Councillor Kevin Cordell with the help of three of the beaches lifeguards.

BROUGHTY Ferry beach has regained its Blue Flag status after being recognised by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The prestigious flag is only awarded to beaches that provide high levels of cleanliness, good water quality and have top class facilities.

And judges believe that for the 2012 season, Broughty Ferry beach fits this criteria.

On Wednesday morning, the flag was unfurled by Dundee City councillors Derek Scott, Vari McDonald and Kevin Cordell.
