MONIFIETH’S own environmental action group were out in force at the weekend.

There was a good turnout of 18 volunteers for Monifieth Eco Force’s beach clean and weeding of the Riverview Rest Garden on Saturday morning.

The rest garden was thoroughly weeded by residents and members of the Monifieth Rotary Club.

Around a dozen of the volunteers also combed the beach for litter, turning up several black bags worth of rubbish and an assortment of car tyres and fishing lines.

A spokesperson for Monifieth Eco Force said: “We would like to thank all the volunteers and the St Andrew’s Ambulance first aiders for turning up regularly and helping us keep the beach safe and clean for children to play in and dogs to roam.

“Hopefully the refreshed flower garden will delight both tourists and locals alike when strolling on the sea front.”

Afterwards the volunteers were rewarded with a well-earned cup of coffee courtesy of the Van Diner.
