MONIFIETH beach clean organiser Kristina Auchinleck was delighted with the turnout for the Tartan Day beach clean at Monifieth on Saturday.

Some 20 volunteers attended, many of whom wore tartan. Keeping with the tartan theme, two primary school boys came along in kilts to play the bagpipes to cheer the volunteers on on a crisp, sunny morning.

Supervised by the St Andrew’s First Aid and sponsored by the Van Diner for refreshments everybody was happy with their efforts.

A total of 15 black bags full of litter and various larger items were removed from the beach.
