The next exhibition at the Kinblethmont Gallery is proving to be a real family affair.

Running from April 5 to 20, it will feature the work of young Auchmithie artist Scott Henriksen who is showing work along with his brother Ross and father, the late Harry Henriksen.

Harry was born in Leith in 1937 and studied under Sir Robin Phillipson and Sir William Gillies in Edinburgh. His influences were Cézanne, Picasso and Bacon; his work shows strong connection to Greek and Celtic mythologies.

Scott explores the figure in landscape, medical illustration through the ages of the human body, subverting it with memory and fantasy.

Ross’s artistic output is concerned with the transience of human nature, the acquiring and transfer of knowledge and thought and the deeper resonances of existence in general.

It is fascinating to observe the cross-correspondence of ideas and interpretation between father and sons and between brother and brother. The controlled energy in this body of work is striking.
