Carnoustie’s annual fireworks display went off with a bang, according to organisers, and may well have been the best yet!
Crowds of spectators wrapped up warm for Carnoustie Gala Committee’s torchlight parade and then the bonfire and fireworks display at the Black Slab put on by Carnoustie Coastguard Association.
Organiser Lindsay Martin, from Carnoustie Coastguard, said: “Everybody said it was the best display we’ve ever had. It was an excellent turnout and the fireworks were fantastic.
“Grateful thanks to Carol Burden and Fireworks International who gave big donations to put on the display. Alan Sturrock built the bonfire with his forklifts and DJ Laing dropped stuff off for the bonfire. Without all these people who helped we could not have done it.
“It was a super night, well-supported and our thanks to the Fire Service and Police Scotland. Not a bit of bother, everybody was well behaved and all enjoyed it.
‘‘It was just the perfect night. In fact I would say it was the best display we’ve had.
“It was an excellent turnout and the fireworks were fantastic.”
Donations were down on last year, and as the event is funded based on collections taken at the previous year’s fireworks it is important to give generously. If anybody did not manage to donate on Saturday and would like to, please pop it into Selwoods Funeral Directors, care of Carnoustie Coastguard Association.
