Hayshead Primary School, in St Abb’s Road, held their first-ever family fun day on Saturday, September 19.
The event was held from 11am until 3pm and everyone who attended enjoyed some glorious weather. There was a bouncy slide, a Zumba demonstration from Claire Ramsay, the ever-popular face painting and a special “Soak the Teacher” stall.
This allowed the eager pupils to throw wet sponges at deputy head Jane Waddle, who was an excellent sport. Alison Douglas, chair of the parent council, told the Herald: “The weather was great and it was a fantastic turnout from the local community. We couldn’t have done it without a lot of support from all the staff, as well as the parents and pupils.
“A figure of £1700 was raised for the school and we’ll definitely do it again!”
